Protein Shakes- Protein shakes seem to be the go-to for busy people. I remember my students' sipping shakes during first period when I was a substitute teacher. I assumed the green liquid was a Super green food protein shake. I have tried them and felt vitalized, so I thought I'd share a few recipes with you. The first recipe is a CREAMY COCONUT-CHIA PROTEIN SHAKE:
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk, 1 scoop plant-based or collagen protein powder, 1 tbsp chia seeds (fiber and omega-3's) 1/2 banana (for natural sweetness and potassium) 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for blood sugar balance) 12 tsp vanilla extract (I like Molina Mexican vanilla) ice cubes, blend until smooth.
The second shake is GREEN COCONUT POWER SHAKE:
1 cup coconut milk, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 handful spinach or kale (for antioxidants and minerals), 1 tbsp flaxseeds 9for fiber and healthy fats), 1/2 avocado (for creaminess and healthy fats), juice of 1/2 lemon (for freshness and Vitamin C), blend until creamy.
The third shake is COCONUT-MACADAMIA ENERGY SHAKE:
1 cup coconut milk, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tbsp macadamia butter or peanut butter, (if preferred), 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp cacao powder (for antioxidants) 1 tsp monk fruit sweetener (if needed), ice cubes, blend for a rich and satisfying shake!
